About
On this website – time permitting – I publish content relating to some of my life passions: basketball coaching, software development, and espresso.
I have been coaching basketball since around 2006, and since that time have coached at the domestic and representative level across all age groups from U10s to seniors. Through my journey I have had the privilege to attend multiple Australian junior championships across U14, U16, U18 and U20 age groups. My coaching interest is in the development space (e.g. functional movement, fundamentals, concepts).
My day job is building software, and I’ve been doing that for over 35 years. I’ve worked in many roles including architect, analyst, designer, team leader, and project manager, but my real passion is writing code and solving problems. I tend to work on back-end and distributed systems, and while I’ve worked with C/C++, Swift, JavaScript, SQL and other languages besides, my staple is Java.
A few years back, through some combination of curiosity and necessity, I combined these interests of basketball coaching and software development, and wrote the TagSport video app.
And what are basketball coaching and software development without coffee. Espresso of course.
After travelling the world as a child, I grew up in Melbourne, lived and worked in Cambridge (UK) for a year, and have been happily settled in Canberra (ACT, Australia) since 1992.
